On 31st October 2011 the government will remove the ‘so called’ Concessionary Coach Fares which allow many elderly people to enjoy subsidised travel, visiting friends and relatives, they also give disabled people of all ages the same right.
I say ‘so called’ because they are not a gift of a benevolent government, they are an earned RIGHT for people who have paid taxes all their adult lives and others who through no fault of their own are disabled.
The date of this insult is less than two weeks before remembrance Sunday when our brave and noble leaders will stand in false homage to the fallen and the still remaining people of THEIR wars.
This homage is an ignoble gesture perpetrated by our politicians shortly after making life harder and lonelier for some of the people they pretend to honour.
Many of the ‘honoured’ will have lived through the wars these pampered and cosseted politicians pretend to remember, some of the ‘honoured’ will be disabled due to the Wars these Politicians and their predecessors caused, especially the more recent wars.
At present there seem to be no organised protests against this robbery, if we are to retain this RIGHT, this has to change, we must at least register our dissapproval of this legislation, the dishonest, despicable men and women who rule us must be made to rue this decision.
Before you start to say, as many of you will, the country is in a financial mess and we must play our part in clearing it up, remember this, WE didn’t cause the financial crisis, THEY the politicians and their mates the bankers are the root cause of the financial meltdown.
Whilst WE have to pay now , one of the most culpable groups in this mess, the bankers have until 2019 to BEGIN their repayment and there is no built-in clause to stop them clawing back these costs from US, together with this, whether the government of 2019 and it almost certainly won’t be the current chumps, will force the bankers to carry out rules made now, remains to be seen.
The withdrawal of the Concessionary Coach Fares is a drop in the ocean compared with the indebtedness our politicians and bankers have caused, the only reason they are picking on us the elderly is because they see us as a ‘soft touch’, who will not raise a finger to stop them.
We need to show our treacherous government we are not the ‘soft touch’ they believe, we need to tell them very, very, clearly, touch our rights and you will not serve a second term.
